Big John Buscema basks in the spotlight of CBC #43, with a one-on-one interview with the legendary artist conducted by editor Jon B. Cooke ? where the Marvel stalwart reveals the moment when comics broke his heart ? plus a in-depth biographical essay on the artist along with a gallery of his fabled behind-the-original-art pages amazing warm up artwork. We examine the tragic fate of prolific ?70s/?80s Marvel scripter Bill Mantlo, co-creator of Rocket Raccoon and Cloak and Dagger. Also, the fascinating, inside tale of Eastern Color Printing, earliest publisher of American comic books, the first collaboration in an occasional series by historian/researcher Shaun Clancy and Jon B. Cooke. There?s also part two of our lively Shary Flenniken interview, creator of Trots ?n? Bonnie, about her charming cartooning for National Lampoon. Ted Jalbert talks with Ivan Katz about life with his dad, Jack Katz, and we include Steven Fears' interview with the great (and underrated) cartoonist Ric Estrada about his varied career, as well as a look at Bazooka Joe comics? and Hembeck, too!
In RetroFan #49: they weren't asking Robert Wagner to spy?they were just asking him to steal, in the ?60s classic It Takes a Thief. Of course, Marlo Thomas is That Girl, as this issue's retrospective proves. Then it's Scooby-Dooby-Doo, Part Two! And are you ready for your cereal milk to change color? with the Pink Panther? Take a deep dive into the world of Sea Monkeys, and relive reading Kids, Dynamite and Smash magazines, as we recall those magazines of yesteryear. It's insights, trivia and secret details of your favorite retro-pop culture, courtesy of Andy Mangels, Herbie J Pilato, Keith Manzella, Will Murray, Aaron Sultan, Jon B. Cooke, Jack Urso, and more fantastic contributors! Edited by Ed Catto.

It's me again folks, the Cryptologist, creeping among the gravestones to exhume a few more juicy morsels! This time ?round, one of my favorite leading ladies steps once more out of the dark?it's none other than Kathryn Leigh Scott, here to discuss her time in Dark Shadows?and what a treasure she is. To help her along, I?ve unearthed a few of those old Dark Shadows comics, along with a selection of trading cards to boot. Our history of pre-Code horror continues, and we also uncover those long forgotten Fawcett horror comics. Then we go back in time to the 1970s to rediscover those ghoulish Blaxploitation movies, before coming face-to-face with Curse of the Demon and the chilling Night of the Eagle. If you have a craving for a classic B-movie or one of Hammer's scary offspring, look no further?they?ll be waiting for you in my crypt laden with the ghoulish from TwoMorrows, made just for you retro horror fans by editor Peter Normanton!?
